A Well-Deserved Babymoon

We are big fans of any reason to celebrate and plan a getaway. And with a baby on the way, taking a babymoon is a great excuse to try somewhere new! (Note: this list is also perfect for a parents or girls weekend!) We spoke to Kristen Korey Pike, CEO & Founder of KK Travels Worldwide about this relatively (but necessary?!) new trend and her suggestions for the amazing resorts her team is booking for her clients.

First, tell us about KK Travels!

KK Travels Worldwide (KKTWW) is a full-service travel advisory firm built on a platform of unparalleled expertise. Our extensive first-hand experience in global travel coupled with an innovative and collaborative approach set us apart in the industry. We work closely with our clients to understand their objectives in order to effectively manage their investment. Our travel advisory firm specializes in services such as Leisure & Business Trip Planning, Destination Weddings & Honeymoons, Cruises and Villa Rentals, just to name a few.

What's the backstory on babymoons? Seems like such a new thing; however, we love any excuse for a trip!

While we have always received “babymoon” (a pregnant couple seeking a getaway) requests, it was not until the last 4 years that the term became more widely known and accepted as a celebratory vacation in anticipation of a baby’s arrival. Approximately 60% of new parents have taken a babymoon vacation that included an overnight stay away from home. Surveys indicate that more than 2 million babymoons are taken by U.S. parents-to-be each year. In our experience, babymoons typically span from 2-4 nights. The destination depends on general travel preferences and work constraints. Some couples prioritize a (Zika-free!) beach experience such as the Bahamas, St. Barths or Bermuda whereas others prefer a local hotel with a fabulous spa. We have also sent more adventurous babymoon clients as far as Italy and New Zealand. We once sent a pregnant couple who was having twins to the Ranch at Live Oak in Malibu

What are some of the incredible places KKTWW is booking for babymoons lately?

Hawaii – The Big Island (Four Seasons Resort Hualalai) or Lanai (Four Seasons Resort Lanai). The spas at these properties are outstanding, and newly expectant parents should try side-by-side massages in a Couple’s Suite! Alternatively, both spas offer superb treatments for pregnant women, and you can add water therapy either in a spa pool or the ocean and experience weightlessness whilst receiving pressure point massage.

Four Seasons, Hualalai

SavannahPerry Lane (for their wellness classes) or Mansion on Forsyth Park (for their Poseidon Spa). For couples that are not into spa, then we could suggest trying the Savannah Taste Experience Food tours, where you can enjoy a one-of-a-kind culinary experience while strolling through the historical streets of Savannah.

Perry Lane, Savanah

BermudaRosewood Bermuda. This property is the only true luxury resort option in Bermuda and ideal for couples celebrating a babymoon! The property offers many activities onsite, as well as many scenic, beautiful beaches to relax. The island also has a great food scene with several restaurants serving local cuisine.

Rosewood Tucker's Point Beach Club

TenneseeBlackberry Farm. This traditionally Southern property is also a popular destination for babymoons, mainly because of its peaceful, serene setting and its amazing culinary scene. The Farmhouse Spa is fantastic for babymoon couples and for those seeking more activity, there is also fly-fishing, hiking and fun cooking classes available.

And lastly, what are some of those items you cannot travel without?
